On these cold, wet winter nights in Perth, we like to look back on the wedding season that was. Facing the prospect of not photographing weddings for 6 weeks straight, we start to miss weddings. The weddings like Fiona and Dieter’s.
Fiona and Dieter are a very classy couple that bring together the love of music (Fiona works for the West Australian Opera) and sport (Dieter is a waterpolo player). Waterpolo is in fact one of my favourite sports to watch, and writing this blog post on the day the world championships starts, I get frustrated once again by the lack of media coverage this great sport receives. But, I digress .
Spending time with Fiona and Dieter on their wedding day was an absolute joy. We started the day with Fiona’s preparation at her parents’ lovely house. The wedding ceremony was held at the Aquinas College chapel, famous for its gorgeous stained glass windows. In what was the first for us, the location wedding photography was done inside His Majesty’s Theatre. Shooting indoors presents some interesting obstacles, mainly related to the lack of light (for the photography buffs reading this blog, most of those interior shots were taken at ISO3200 and higher). However, the theatre more than makes up for this by its grand interior decor.
The great day ended with a beautiful wedding reception at the University Club of Western Australia. All that is left for us to do is to convince Fiona to choose the red cover and white pages for their Jorgensen wedding album. That should not be difficult .
